Born and raised in South Australia, Aveo’s State Catering Manager, Derek Richardson, is a family man with a lifelong passion for food. Since the age of 16, Derek has been working in kitchens across Australia. From French cuisine to modern Australian and fine dining, Derek knows it all.
Derek is committed to undertaking additional study wherever he can to further his skills in food science and safety. With hands-on experience working as Executive Chef at Ashford Hospital, Derek understands the benefits of nutrition for good health and brings this practice to Aveo’s dining rooms.
“I love working for Aveo because I believe our growing elderly population deserve the best care and food possible. After working as an agency chef at a range of retirement living and aged care villages, I realised that Aveo really does have the best intentions when it comes to our residents.”
