Leading retirement provider Aveo Group has announced the introduction of new technological innovations to their landmark community Aveo Newstead, including a voice activated emergency system ‘Eevi Emergency’.
Integrating lifestyle, health and technology, the innovations and tech services not only support residents’ daily needs and desires but also present unique lifestyle opportunities.
Emerging in response to the findings from comprehensive data collection, interviews and engagement with current residents, Aveo’s technologies are designed to support residents in three key areas: health, community and tech help.
The group’s commitment to delivering high quality resident care is demonstrated through the introduction of a voice activated system, Eevi Emergency.
The voice assistant, unique to Aveo, is being rolled out within the Aveo Newstead community first and aims to ensure the safety of residents in their home via the Google Home and Samsung watch. When activated, Eevi Emergency signals an automatic response and alerts that help is required. Residents also have access to a daily resident check-in service and nation-wide GPS location monitoring via the Samsung watch, with an optional family notification service that provides piece of mind.
Aveo has also introduced Aveo Together, an innovative app designed to support retirees transitioning to residential community living. Aveo Together enables residents to connect with others in the community, as well as staff and support services.
The app will also digitise the community notice board, allowing for seamless planning of community activities. Residents can access event information, utilizing the app to plan and book into social events, including weekly movie viewings, walking groups and meditation classes. With a news feed function and the ability to lodge maintenance and tech help requests, the app also ensures connectivity, support and independence.
In another retirement living industry first, Aveo Newstead introduced a Tech Angel service – a dedicated, in-community qualified tech professional – to all Aveo Newstead residents to assist with daily technology problems or queries. The Tech Angel service will be available five days a week, with in-home services, demos and regular workshops in the Tech Hub.
Aveo Group CEO Geoff Grady said the industry-first technologies are part of the retirement provider’s modern approach and commitment to care.
“Aveo Newstead is setting the standard for retirement living in Australia, using leading technology to ensure we meet the changing desires and growing needs of Australia’s retirement community,” Mr Grady said.
“Australians use technology every day to enrich their lives, seek support and make day-to-day tasks easier, and with the roll out of our offering at Aveo Newstead, we are bringing the retirement living sector right up to date with the latest digital advancements that our tech-savvy residents want.
“We are proud to lead the charge in the retirement industry, providing services such as voice activated emergency systems, lifestyle applications, wearable health technology and tech support services for our residents at Aveo Newstead.”
