At Aveo, it is our residents that make our communities unique. We’d like to introduce you to Judy McNair from Aveo Manor Gardens, our retirement community in Salisbury East, who downsized to enjoy the low-maintenance, social lifestyle of the community.
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
“I was born in Adelaide and have lived in South Australia my whole life. Before I was married, I worked in the city as an office worker. I am a mother of three sons, a grandmother of ten grandchildren and greatgrandmother of eight.”
Why did you move into Aveo Manor Gardens? How did you know it was right for you?
“Before I moved, I was living in a large two-bedroom unit in Salisbury East with a large garden. It was becoming too much for me to maintain, so I decided to downsize to a smaller apartment. Being a local, I had heard about the community before, but I visited a few other places before making a decision. I inspected my current apartment and fell in love with it. I moved in soon after.”
How has your life improved since moving?
“I’ve made many lovely friends and have become heavily involved in the social club committee as the treasurer. I know I can always rely on the staff, particularly the maintenance man when I need help.”
What is one piece of advice you would offer others thinking about moving to a retirement community?
“Don’t wait until it’s too late! I wish I had made the move earlier.”
