Aveo Sunbury residents knitting for those in need

More than a dozen residents of Aveo Sunbury have been busy knitting blankets, beanies, scarves and more for those in need.

The craft group named the Knitwits and Crochet Queens meet on a regular basis to knit and croquet, using donated materials, for a wide range of local charities.

The group have donated items to The Salvation Army, Brunswick Refugee Centre, the Royal Women’s Hospital for preemie babies and many more.

The entire program is run by residents, in particular, Liz Schaller who has spent many months coordinating the project and assisting with the knitting of almost every single blanket.

The group have recently donated another 20 blankets, 6 scarves and a dozen beanies to the Rotary Club of Gisborne in response to an appeal posted in their local newsletter.

Aveo Sunbury Community Manager, Mary MacKinnon said; “I am very proud and in admiration of the thousands of collective hours our residents have put into knitting projects for many less fortunate in Victoria”.

A great job by all the Knitwits and Crochet Queens for a good cause.
