To help make things a little easier, we’ve compiled the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions below. What steps has Aveo taken to help protect the health and safety of residents from COVID-19?
Aveo has been closely monitoring the World Health Organisation and Commonwealth and State Government advice regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and has taken reasonable and appropriate steps in accordance with this advice, as it relates to the industry in which we operate.
All persons are susceptible to contracting COVID-19. However, people with cardiopulmonary disease, those with weakened immune systems and the elderly are particularly at risk. Given the character of Aveo’s business, this places Aveo’s workforce and resident population in a heightened risk category.

Can I visit an Aveo community to see if it’s right for me?

What accreditation do Aveo communities have?

That’s why we’re also members of the Retirement Living Council and supporters of the Retirement Living Code of Conduct.
What is the Retirement Living Code of Conduct?
Launched in December 2018, the Retirement Living Code of Conduct creates a benchmark to help operators provide trustworthy and high-quality services to those living in, and considering moving to, a retirement community. As signatories to the Code, we have committed to providing high standards and maintaining high resident satisfaction at our communities.
What rights do I have when living in an Aveo community?
All of Aveo’s retirement communities are regulated by the Retirement Villages Act that applies in the State in which the community is located. A key purpose of this legislation is to provide protection to retirement village residents in respect of their entry into, living in and leaving a retirement community. To obtain a copy of the Retirement Villages Act, please contact the appropriate legislative body in your state or contact us today for a copy.
Do you have rental properties?
Aveo unfortunately does not offer rental properties. When you buy an Aveo property, you are purchasing a right to reside in the form of a long-term lease on your chosen unit or apartment.
Can we make renovations to our home?
You can make alterations to the interior or exterior of your property, within reason which may include obtaining Aveo’s consent. There are policies in place to protect the safety and comfort of all residents and to safeguard the aesthetic qualities and integrity of the community. Alterations involving electricity, gas, plumbing or building structure and external appearance must be approved by community management before any work is carried out and all work must be carried out by qualified, registered tradespeople holding appropriate licences and insurances.
What kind of insurance do we need?
The cost of building and property insurance is shared by all residents and paid through your community’s service fees. Many residents elect to take out personal contents insurance in respect of their furniture and belongings in their units.
Who pays for gas, electricity, telephone and internet?
Residents are responsible for their own gas, electricity, telephone and internet usage. Some Aveo communities offer free internet access in their community centres via the Federal Government’s Broadband for Seniors programme.
Can I bring my pet to an Aveo community?
Small to medium-sized pets are usually welcome in our communities, however each pet must be approved by the Community Manager before moving into the community. A part of the Community Manager’s approval may be subject to reasonable conditions to ensure you and your pet can live harmoniously in the community. There are some communities where pets are not allowed, so it’s important to check with the community you’re looking at moving to before you make any decisions.
Is there space for my boat or caravan?
This will vary depending on the size and facilities available at each retirement community. Speak to your Sales Consultant for more information.
Are my friends and family able to come visit and stay with me?
Downsizing doesn’t mean leaving your family and friends behind. They are more than welcome to visit you in your community and enjoy the range of facilities just as you would. In fact, it isn’t uncommon for our residents to bring guests to social activities and events. Most importantly, you are welcome to have your guests stay with you for short periods of time provided they comply with the community rules like any other resident. Longer periods of time may also be possible, provided you obtain the Community Manager’s consent and comply with any reasonable conditions.
Do Aveo retirement communities have facilities for visiting healthcare professionals?
Many of our communities welcome visiting allied health professionals such as GPs, physiotherapists and podiatrists. Residents can book an appointment with these professionals in the privacy of medical consultation rooms.
What if I require emergency assistance?
For added peace-of-mind, all Aveo properties feature a 24-hour in-home emergency call system which you can access. When you visit a community and tour the available properties, your Sales Consultant will show you where these systems are located.
If I go away on holiday, will my home be okay?
Many of our properties feature a lock up and leave design, making it easy for residents to head off on weekends away or extended holidays. If you decide to go away, you can be assured that our caring staff will keep an eye on your home, and that everything will be just as you left it when you decide to return.
