At Aveo, the health and safety of residents and staff in our Retirement Living Communities remains our number one priority.
We closely monitor the Australian Government’s advice around COVID-19 and continue to take decisive and comprehensive steps in accordance with this advice to protect residents.
Aveo requires all staff, contractors and service providers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they have a valid medical exemption. This means we require at least two doses of a TGA-approved COVID-19 vaccine. We want to do all we can to provide a safe living and working environment for valued residents who call our communities home and our staff, which is why we have taken this step.
Vaccination is only one control measure employed in combating the threat of COVID-19 and safeguarding the health of residents and staff. In addition, we have enacted standard infection prevention and control protocols, as well as ensuring appropriate environmental cleaning and sanitising practices occur across our communities and workplaces.
It remains of paramount importance that everyone continues to practise COVIDSafe measures which include maintaining good hand and respiratory hygiene, and always practising physical distancing.
We ask that individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 voluntarily elect to limit their movements and not attend one of our communities – out of respect for the health and safety of others.
Staff will continue to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required. This may include face masks or other protective clothing when dealing with a confirmed case of COVID-19 or delivering personal care services.
Face masks are also encouraged where you cannot maintain physical distancing or are in an enclosed environment with many people.
All staff are suitably trained on the correct protocols for wearing PPE safely and effectively, as well as in hand hygiene and infection control.
Aveo continues to operate a dedicated COVID-19 Hotline that is staffed by enrolled or registered nurses. The Hotline is available to both residents and staff, and offers support through general advice and enquiries, acts as the primary means for reporting a positive case of COVID-19, conducts welfare checks for those with a confirmed diagnosis, and monitors COVID-19 outcomes across the organisation.
If you have tested positive to COVID-19, are an immediate household contact of someone with COVID-19, or are experiencing any COVID-like symptoms, we respectfully ask that you do not attend our communities.
As a reminder, COVID-19 symptoms may include a runny or stuffy nose; headache; cough; shortness of breath and/or rapid breathing; sore throat; and fever.
Visiting one of our communities?
To ensure the safety of residents and staff in our communities, all visitors who attend our community events, open homes and inspections are to be vaccinated against COVID-19. This means we require you to have received at least two doses of a TGA-approved COVID-19 vaccine (booster vaccinations are strongly encouraged). Proof of vaccination will be required on registration.
From time to time and having regard to the number of cases that may be present in the wider community or at a specific location, we may also limit the number of external groups visiting for social activities and events. These decisions are made on the prevailing conditions and advice at that time.
