More than 3,000 Australian women will lose their battle with breast cancer. That's eight women per day, making breast cancer the second most common cause of female cancer-related death.
With so many people likely to be impacted, both now and into the future, it's vital that we continue to do what we can to find a way to stop breast cancer.
That's why Aveo have supported Project Pink since 2016 and surpassed our goal of raising over $1 million dollars. Each year, residents and staff across our communities turn pink and come together to raise funds to support UQ Diamantina Institute Group Leader A/Prof Fiona Simpson and the team to progress their research which now has global impact giving life-changing hope to women who are facing breast cancer.
In 2021 our communities raised over $74,000 from a range of activities, events, raffles, morning teas and generous donations. Residents and staff did not stop at raising funds just for Project Pink, in addition they also raised $6,200 for MANDATE, to support solution focused prostate cancer research.
We will all come together once again in October 2022, Breast Cancer Awareness month, so that we can continue to make a difference.
