This year, more than 3,100 Australian women will lose their battle with breast cancer.
That's eight women per day, making breast cancer the second most common cause of female cancer-related death.
With so many people likely to be impacted, both now and into the future, it's vital that we do what we can to find a way to stop breast cancer.
That's why Aveo are again supporting Project Pink in 2020.
Since 2016, residents, staff and partners across our corporate offices and 94 communities have rallied together to raise funds to support UQ Diamantia Institute Group Leader A/Prof Fiona Simpson and her lab's ground-breaking research project - a world-first clinical trial for triple negative breast cancer patients.
Over the last four years, these funds have had amazing, life-changing impacts for a number of patients, who otherwise would not of have had the opportunity.
But with Phase 1 clinical trials now complete, A/Prof Fiona Simpson and her team are now focused on developing cancer vaccines that are able to kill tumours and provide a long-term immune response in patients. Any further funds raised will go a long way to helping in this new direction.
In total, Aveo has raised approximately $974,000, and this year, we're hoping to raise a further $26,000, taking our total funds raised to $1 million.
If you, or someone you know is living with breast cancer, we encourage you to consider helping us raise these additional funds for Project Pink, to ensure Australia can provide the best possible health care for people facing breast cancer.
