The Opportunity

The Newstead Residences is a luxury retirement living community located in the heart of Newstead, home to 190+ independent living apartments across 19 floors. We have a rare opportunity for a personable and dedicated Maintenance Officer to join our team to assist with the day-to-day maintenance &  groundskeeping tasks around our retirement village. Working closely with the Community Manager, Maintenance Coordinator and residents, you will ensure our building, common areas & fixtures are well-presented. If you're someone who has previous maintenance or groundskeeping experience, either domestically or within an organisation - this role is for you! Located in Newstead above the Gasworks precinct, you will be working in a hotel-style environment where you will thrive in making our community a better place for residents!

This new opportunity is a permanent full-time position working Monday 6.30-2.30pm & Tuesday-Friday 7-3pm.

You will

  • You will attend to various maintenance/upkeep requests to create a pleasant environment for residents, visitors, staff and others
  • Ensure building common areas are well maintained by carrying out daily & weekly 'groundskeeping' items (such as maintaining bins on each level etc.)
  • Use software platforms to update the status of work orders and report any hazards/incidents 
  • Be a friendly face to the residents and work alongside a fantastic team!
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure tasks or projects undertaken are safe, timely and completed to a high standard
  • Please note - this is not a gardening role, we have that covered!

What you will bring

  • Experience in Maintenance or 'Handyperson' roles or skilled in domestic repair tasks (highly desired)
  • A warm & caring personality with an interest to make a difference every day
  • Valid driver's licence (required)
  • Current Police Check certificate (required, but if you do not have one, we can complete for you)
  • Two (2) COVID-19 Vaccinations (required)
