Celebrating a one year milestone at Aveo Carindale

Although the last few months have been different for the community at Parkside Carindale retirement village, that hasn’t stopped residents from living well and celebrating the important things.

In mid-August, residents and staff came together as a community to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Parkside Carindale’s latest development, enjoying a night of music, fun and laughter.

Community Manager Nerissa Stanley said the celebration was much-enjoyed by residents in the community.

“We had a lovely evening with great music playing and residents enjoy the gorgeous indoor-outdoor spaces in the community centre,” Nerissa said.

“It was fantastic to be able to get together as a community and enjoy some time together, even if at a distance.”

Originally established in 1985, Parkside Carindale has grown to become one of Aveo’s most appealing retirement communities, largely due to its convenient location and recent redevelopments.

Stemming from a desire to meet the needs of future residents, the latest stage included the development of 97 independent living apartments across the community’s Parkland and Sanctuary buildings, as well as a major redevelopment of the community centre.

Now home to an outdoor heated pool, resident-run library, café and bar area, private cinema and more, the community centre is recognised as the heart and soul of the community, a welcoming space for all to enjoy.

In the twelve months since the redevelopment, the community has tripled in size, welcoming 100 new residents attracted to its convenient location, brand-new facilities and neighbourly atmosphere.

For Dianne and Errol, residents at the community, it was those three factors that convinced them at Parkside Carindale was the perfect place to call home.

“Moving into a new unit and environment with its green outlook was attractive, but the closeness of shops, public transport, less cleaning, gardening and house maintenance were also a consideration,” they said.

“It may have taken some months to reach a final decision but we have no regrets. Since occupying our unit we are extremely happy with its size, position and outlook, and are very comfortable in our new environment.”

Nerissa has enjoyed welcoming residents like Dianne and Errol, and watching the community become even more of a welcoming and caring place to call home.

“Resident activities have a renewed vibe, with increased numbers and new faces, which has been wonderful to see,” she said.

“Some of our newer, green thumbed residents have volunteered and helped those in the original community with their gardens, which has brought much joy and enhanced the feeling of community.”
