The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager - Risk & Safety, in this newly established role you will deliver high quality advice to senior management around insurance solutions, and the procurement and management of insurance risk solutions. You'll Design and implement insurance claim management system; also drive the insurance related program, including property valuation and business interruption assessment.

You will:
  • Undertake market reviews of insurance products and arrangements.
  • Review of the appropriateness of insurances and procurement of all levels of insurance products.
  • Liaise with appropriate business functions to review and negotiate insurance clauses in various agreements, including goods and service supply agreements, contract works/development agreements, and loan documents.
  • Develop and apply insurance procedures, including but not limited to the renewal processes.
  • Manage claims and negotiation of insurance claims (in conjunction with the claim management team of the insurance broker).
  • Oversee compliance with insurance requirements set by financiers, regulators and internal guidelines.
  • Advice on insurance aspects of business acquisitions/divestments and participate in due diligence processes as the insurance expert, as required.
  • Assist finance with financial management processes by forecasting insurance costs and claims liability.
  • Submit reports and timely updates to senior management on insurance claims and related risk management issues.
  • Report on insurance performance and recommend/implement remedial action where required for different business needs.
  • Manage the day-to-day broker/ insurer relationships to meet Aveo's insurance service needs with speed, flexibility and expertise.
  • Review, recommend to relevant internal stakeholders and implement approved changes as required to meet the requirements of Aveo.
What you'll bring
  • Min 5 years' experience in a similar position within a corporate or broker
  • Demonstrated experience managing insurance solutions, risks and claims
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including claim management system design and implementation an advantage
  • Strong understanding of business drivers and the commercial environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with management and present recommendations/influence decision-making
  • Experience in the retirement village, healthcare or aged care (Desired)
  • Knowledge of risk management and business continuity (Desired)
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite in particular well developed MS Office skills in PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail, coupled with demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Superior negotiation and interpersonal skills and confident in dealing with people at all levels
  • Outgoing and confident disposition with the ability to communicate succinctly and articulately
  • Ability to work independently but also a strong team player
