Several members of the Aveo operations team enjoyed a lawn bowls tournament with some of the residents at the Aveo Albany Creek retirement village recently.
11 staff members and 13 residents participated in the tournament on the Aveo Albany Creek bowling green, with one willing resident joining the staff team to make up an even 12 players per side. Everyone who attended was encouraged to wear their best Hawaiian shirts and floral leis were provided for all residents and staff. Some residents went all out with their fancy dress with one eager resident wearing a sarong. Drinks and nibbles were provided following the tournament which gave everyone a chance to relax and socialise. No prizes were given to the winning team but the afternoon was a whole lot of fun. Everyone got into the spirit of the event and the bowls-savvy residents were more than happy to coach the staff on the game.
Activities between the Aveo staff and village residents are now planned to occur every six months at various Aveo villages around Queensland.
