The Aveo The George retirement village in Sandringham, Melbourne is helping to build the skills of its residents by running weekly iPad and computer classes with the help of the Sandy Beach Community Centre. Eight residents are currently involved in the classes with more growth expected as the program continues to develop. Aveo The George boasts wireless internet on the ground floor which is a great bonus for residents as they don’t need to arrange a private internet connection in their apartments, unless they want to. Recently, two trainers from Sandy Beach Community Centre attended the class and there has been an expansion of the program to include using other types of computers. The feedback from the residents is that the classes are informative and fun, and it is hoped that more learning and development courses will be organised at Aveo The George in the near future.
