The residents of the Aveo Peregian Springs Country Club retirement village on the Sunshine Coast enjoyed a fun and festive Melbourne Cup Day this week to celebrate the race that stops the nation.
Over 100 residents were treated to traditional Melbourne Cup fare including champagne and gourmet chicken sandwiches, served by two wonderful residents, Desolie Gleeson and Bronwyn West who worked hard to cater the event. Bronwyn West also provided a range of Melbourne Cup themed decorations, and fellow residents, George West and Ray Larke assisted by welcoming guests with champagne on arrival. The residents enjoyed watching the race together, as well as participating in the race sweeps. The Aveo Peregian Springs sales team, Meg Rossiter and Karol Kljajcin donated two beautiful hampers which were given as prizes for the best hat, won by Irene Gibbons, and the most colourful shirt, won by Ray Larke.
A fantastic day was had by all residents who attended. The village staff, including Village Manager, Sharon Bateman enjoyed seeing the residents have such a wonderful time together.
