December and January are traditionally the quieter months for the residents of the Fernbank retirement village in St Ives but that hasn’t stopped them from enjoying what was on offer.
Residents enjoyed a complimentary cocktail party in December with the village Social Committee providing a fine selection of gourmet treats and no one needing dinner after soirée. The annual Fernbank Christmas dinner was at full capacity in December with everyone wanting to participate in the festivities. Village Executive Chef, Nick Hall and his catering team created a sumptuous feast and the entertainment proved that you’re never too old to do the conga, even with a waking frame. The village’s most recent mystery tour took the residents to Shelly Beach for a lazy summer afternoon enjoying the atmosphere of Sydney’s spectacular Northern Beaches, and some delicious afternoon tea. Nobody was in any hurry to leave. A recent summer storm also created a magnificent rainbow which encircled our village centre.
The Fernbank residents also work tirelessly for various charitable organisations and one of the most recent fund raising efforts was an event to raise money for Parkinson’s Disease. 2015 promises to be another fun and social year for the Fernbank residents with many exciting events and occasions already planned.
