An Eye for Art at Aveo Peninsula Gardens

In November 2014, the Art Group at the Aveo Peninsula Gardens retirement village in Bayview invited their fellow residents to an unveiling of a wall in the arts and crafts room which had been transformed from an out-dated frieze painted in 1987 to a modern Mondrian style collection of paintings.

Those who attended the unveiling had a wonderful morning, with all agreeing that the new artwork is an excellent addition to the village. The Aveo Peninsula Gardens Art Group formed in 2000 when a few residents who had some artistic knowledge decided to have a morning together with coffee and brought along their brushes and paints to share their experiences of life prior to retiring to the beautiful village. Several times over the following years, the group organised art shows and invited their neighbours and other village residents in the area to enjoy their artistic talents.

The group have since spent many a happy morning together in the village and sometimes out and about in the local neighbourhood, looking for artistic inspiration.
