Residents of Aveo Leabrook Lodge retirement village came together in December not only to celebrate the festive season but to rejoice the village’s 25th anniversary milestone, and what better way to celebrate than to have a party in their newly refurbished community centre. The biggest event on the 2015 social calendar, 67 residents and staff gathered to enjoy the festivities. With a mix of Christmas décor and anniversary balloons, the atmosphere in the community centre was buzzing with the sound of cheer, shared memories and a warm welcome to new residents. A beautiful 25th birthday cake was presented and cut by Joan Stone, President of the village residents committee, Joan has been residing at the village since 1991 . Residents danced the night away to the sounds of entertainer Matt Raynor and to round off the event a bumper raffle was held. Kathy Dodd, Village Manager said “We recognise the generosity of residents from the village, and we also want to thank Romeo’s Foodland, Rostrevor Chem-mart and The Good Guys as they also donated raffle prizes.” “It was a fantastic event, and we were sorry that Arthur Palm our longest residing resident, who moved into the village in 1990, was unable to join us on this night of nights. Everyone agreed it was the perfect way to celebrate the first 25 years and we are looking forward to the next milestone”.
