The Fernbank retirement village in St Ives has been abuzz with activity recently, from mystery tours to residents babysitting some four-legged friends.
Each month, Fernbank’s very own social coordinator, Angela takes the residents on an exciting mystery tour to a surprise destination somewhere in the fabulous city of Sydney. In February, the residents enjoyed a glorious, sunny afternoon by the beach in famous Manly. The group was fortunate enough to have Katrina from On Course Tours as their bus drive, with her extensive knowledge of Sydney and a special talent for finding vacant picnic tables. The Fernbank residents also enjoyed a ‘pizza at sunset’ night in February in beautiful Clareville on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Those who attended enjoyed beautiful views, a lovely balmy evening and of course, some delicious pizza for dinner.
Finally in February, a long term Fernbank resident, Mrs Margaret Wickham enjoyed a spot of ‘puppy sitting’. Mrs Wickham originally moved to Fernbank because of the village’s pet friendly policy. Mrs Wickham has owned dogs all her life and refused to move anywhere that she couldn’t take her beloved dog, Monty. Several years after Monty passed away, Mrs Wickham moved into Fernbank’s Serviced Apartments. She recently enjoyed an afternoon looking after an adorable little puppy and thoroughly enjoyed the interaction.
