The Aveo retirement group in Victoria has been sponsoring the Aveo Random Pairs evening at the North Balwyn Bowls Club each Wednesday night.
The event was held every Wednesday night throughout mid-November and will run through December and into January. Approximately 40 people play each week with a mix of bowls club members and visitors from the surrounding area. Manager of the North Balwyn Bowls Club, Bruce Hexter said that the club came up with the concept of introducing a competition where new bowlers could play with more experienced bowlers in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Aveo Random Pairs nights see people playing three games, with a different partner for each game. Prizes are given to the game winners and there is a spirit of fun, healthy competition in the air. “The highlight so far was when a residents from the Sackville Grange retirement village came to the club to address the members and visitors, and spoke glowingly of his new home at the village,” Bruce said. “It is only through sponsorship that our bowling club can provide this type of competition for our members and visitors.” “In a short time we have been able to create new awareness of Aveo in a relaxed atmosphere, and feel that both Aveo and the North Balwyn Bowls Club will benefit from this newly formed partnership,” Bruce said.
