Earlier this month, the staff and residents of the Aveo Concierge Balwyn retirement village enjoyed a festive luncheon to celebrate Oaks Day, part of the Spring Racing Carnival festivities.
34 people attended the event including Village Manager, Bronwyn Fox, Assistant Village Manager, Faye Watson, as well as residents, and their family and friends. Those who attended were treated to a delicious lunch prepared by the village chef featuring chicken, leg ham, prawns, hot seafood platters and salads, followed by a dessert of raspberry white chocolate tart and chocolate dipped strawberries.
Prizes were awarded for best dressed, which was won by resident Marie Colvin, and most original hat, won by Joyce Tragardh. There was also a raffle with a champagne basket as the main prize. Other raffled prizes were donated gifts from friends of Aveo Concierge Balwyn. Oaks Day, or Ladies Day, is a group one thoroughbred horse race for three year old fillies at Flemington in Melbourne on the Thursday after Melbourne Cup.
