Residents of the Pittwater Palms retirement village in Avalon were treated to a most interesting talk by author Deb Hunt in early December.
She held the audience spellbound with her extraordinary true story of life in Broken Hill, where she worked with the Royal Flying Doctor Service and met the love of her life. Deb read extracts from her latest book, Love in the Outback, and as an accomplished reader, she really brought the story to life. Through her readings, Deb made the residents and staff of Pittwater Palms laugh and cry but most of all she made the group appreciate the sense of community she found in Broken Hill. Deb joined the residents and staff for afternoon tea before the talk and she stayed to chat to residents after the talk was over.
Deb Hunt is published by Macmillan and she is now working on a book of stories about farming families from around Australia, due out in May 2015.
