Almost 100 residents of Aveo Manly Gardens, along with family and guests, attended the 25th community birthday celebrations last week. A silver, white and teal colour theme was proudly worn by everyone on the day. Many of the residents loved dancing away to some of the classics performed by David Barry. Guests were treated to stories of the village’s history as told by a group of residents who moved into the village not long after it first opened.
Frank and Joy Gooswilligen are the longest staying residents of the village, having lived there since 1994 and were invited to cut the cake. Frank and Joy were joined by their daughter as Frank was also celebrating his 90th birthday on the day.
We asked Frank and Joy how they felt about celebrating the occasion.
“Wonderful, we did the right thing when we moved into the village on the 23rd March 1994. We have had a wonderful life here and hope for a few more good years to come thanks to all for we are one family.”
