Aveo Crestview Resident Celebrates a Century
Centenarian Eddie Hounsome was born in London, fixed army trucks in Europe during World War II and spent time in Port Lincoln and Streaky Bay. But he says…
Spending time with fellow residents, family and friends singing along to some of her favourite songs is how Aveo Bentleigh resident Anne celebrated her 103rd birthday on 8th May. Sing Australia Choir kicked off the festivities singing happy birthday followed by the song ‘Hello Annie’.
We’re not sure what the secret is to looking so youthful and being so fit at 103 but socialising and staying active is clearly a contributor. Every week Anne catches the village bus to the local shopping centre and can also be found playing mini golf at the Sunday community competition, often winning the weekly trophy.
Everyone who attended the birthday afternoon tea enjoyed a chocolate ganache cake and Anne was presented with flowers and a card from Aveo staff, and also received a gift of a beautiful Singapore orchid from her resident friends. One resident’s speech was heart-warming, as they spoke of Anne’s calm and beautiful nature.
Congratulations Anne and happy birthday!
