Anzac Day at Aveo – Daphne

Home / Lifestyle & Connectivity / Anzac Day at Aveo – Daphne

Daphne and a team from The Alfred Hospital went to Bien Hoa, Vietnam in 1966 under the SEATO alliance to provide medical aid to those in need.

Working with a small team, Daphne would often treat children suffering from war injuries.

One of Daphne’s first patients was a young boy, brought in by his mother and suffering from severe injuries. After nursing him back to health, he would sit with other patients and keep them company while they recovered.

“On the day that we were leaving, when we got out of our vehicle to go to the plane and what have you, there he was, this little boy, and he had bunches of flowers for each nurse and he said thank you.”
