Looking to grow further

Residents at Aveo Hunters Green have been working hard to bring their veggie gardens up to the standard of 12 new villas and are welcoming new members to their community.

The improved veggie garden and the rest of the village will be opened to the public at a free family-friendly open day on Saturday 27 August.

Life-long horticulturalist Margaret Phillips is excited about the continued growth of her retirement community in Rochester Parade, Cranbourne East.

“When my husband passed away and my property in Emerald became too large to look after, I knew I wanted to find a retirement village that allowed me to make new friends and continue my passion in the garden,” she said.

“I am excited for the upcoming open day and to show potential new comers that retirement living does not have to be scary – it could be the best decision you ever make.”

The open day will give visitors the opportunity to tour the village, try homemade food and a free barbecue lunch, a live jazz performance and craft stalls, including fresh produce grown by resident green-thumbs like Margaret.
