Aveo raises $76,700 for ‘Project Pink’

As part of our commitment to support a charitable cause which would benefit older Australians in a meaningful way, Aveo Group formed a new partnership in 2015 with the PA Research Foundation in Brisbane, the home of the discovery of the world’s first cancer vaccine.

Our partnership provides a wonderful opportunity for the Foundation to broaden its reach and awareness, and to spread the word about healthy living and healthy ageing. In addition the Foundation transforms lives through investing in life changing medical research projects, especially in relation to breast cancer.

As part of our fund raising efforts for 2016, the Aveo community across the country came together in force during October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to raise much needed funds by participating in ‘Project Pink’. Through 84 separate events supported by Aveo at a corporate level, our staff, our residents and a number of preferred partners have raised an amazing $76,700. This is a truly incredible achievement for our first year.

All of the funds raised will be put towards supporting the Foundation’s Dr Fiona Simpson and her team. Their work focuses on a world first revolutionary breast cancer treatment project; a project which will potentially change the effectiveness of breast cancer treatment on a global scale forever. In the context of the project funding and timing, our $76,700 is a large, meaningful and well timed injection of funds which will allow clinical trials to commence in the near future.

We are all extremely proud of our Project Pink achievement.

Together with the Foundation, Aveo will continue to deliver programs encouraging a healthy lifestyle and raise funds for medical research.
