Residents and staff of several Aveo retirement villages from around Brisbane were recently treated to a day of food and fun as they attended the Brisbane Good Food and Wine Show, and enjoyed Maggie Beer’s exclusive Celebrity Theatre sessions.
Groups of residents and staff from the Aveo Durack, Aveo Clayfield, Aveo Taringa, and Aveo Albany Creek retirement villages received complimentary passes from the Maggie Beer Foundation to attend the show and her sessions on Friday the 17th of October. During Maggie’s two live sessions on the day, Enes Thompson of Aveo Clayfield, Annette Viggers of Aveo Taringa, and Marlene Williamson and Meg Leaming of Aveo Durack, were called on stage to help cook and taste some of the delicious food being prepared. Maggie also took time after her sessions to meet several of the Aveo residents.
Meg Leaming said “It was so lovely to meet Maggie and learn more about her food philosophy and charitable work. It was a fantastic day and the food was delicious!” Maggie has recently launched the Maggie Beer Foundation which aims to improve food and nutrition in aged care. One of the Foundation’s initiatives is to gather research that is in the world domain, but difficult to find in one place, as to how to make life better for those who are in conditions we would not accept ourselves.
The residents and staff who attended the show enjoyed a day of food, wine and entertainment, and all thoroughly enjoyed Maggie Beer’s informative sessions. For more information on the Maggie Beer Foundation, please visit www.maggiebeerfoundation.org.au.
