Eighteen Aveo residents from across Australia, along with Susan Irvine – Assistant Village Manager of Aveo The Domain Country Club, have recently returned from the adventure of a lifetime, an incredible and memorable cultural immersion trip to Shanghai.
This immersion program is only one of the many member benefits offered to Aveo residents.
The adventurous group were warmly welcomed to the Aveo China Campus, which became their base to explore the city of Shanghai.
For two weeks, they experienced a true cultural exchange, living in an Aveo Live Well Chinese community, participating in the various activities at the Campus and becoming inaugural members of the Australia China Friendship Club.
The launch of the Resident Cultural Immersion Program attracted plenty of attention too, with Graeme Meehan, the Consul General of the Australian Government, greeting travellers at the Official Welcome Dinner.
The tour was a great opportunity to fulfil long held travel ambitions and experience the Chinese culture, visiting local historic towns, iconic sightseeing venues, entertainment, and Chinese art and cooking. It was a chance to see China as a local, while enjoying the comfort of high standard of operation and support that Aveo Retirement Living is known for.
Aveo China Group General Manager, Julie Jackson, said the Aveo China Campus is the perfect base for senior Australians to live and explore Shanghai like a local, while still enjoying the safety and security offered by an Aveo village community.
“We’re taking the hassle out of the experience to enable retirees the freedom to make the most of their senior years and to live, travel and retire positively. With every detail taken care of for their stay, the Australian travellers will be able to meet the Chinese residents and fully immerse themselves in the local culture.”
With four more groups of residents preparing to set off to Shanghai this year, we are looking forward to hearing many more exciting travel stories soon!
