A growing group of residents at Aveo Robina and Aveo Amity Gardens have been enjoying weekly Tai Chi classes in their communities. With a focus on simple, effective and fun techniques including Chi Kung (breathing exercises for better circulation, join and muscle relaxation) and Sun-style TCA (for arthritis, supported by the Arthritis Foundation of Australia). At Aveo Robina, upwards of 15 to 20 men and women have been participating in the weekly class which has now expanded to include Aqua Tai Chi classes in the pool – perfect for these summer months! Jody Morgans of Golden Phoenix Tai Chi has been deemed the best Tai Chi instructor on the Gold Coast by residents at Aveo Robina.
“Tai Chi was one of those activities which I would take up one day and now in my later years, now is the time. What I like about our Tai Chi classes is firstly the atmosphere that Jody creates by wearing her lovely silk pyjamas and her collection of fans and the music.” – Moya, Aveo Robina resident
“I had been a bit hesitant as I suffer from angina but what a pleasant surprise as I thoroughly enjoy the sessions which now include water Tai Chi. I have been able to complete all the exercises without a problem and have found an improvement in balance, breathing, flexibility and blood circulation.” – Charles, Aveo Robina resident
Residents of Aveo Amity Gardens have been visited by Jody every week for over 10 years now and are very advanced in several forms of Tai Chi using swords, fans, flute and staff. Tai Chi assists with posture and movement which in turn helps residents to avoid falls and improve balance. All residents love their weekly Tai Chi lesson with Jody and the classes continue to grow.
