Exploring the history of Aveo Edrington Park’s Community Centre

Over forty people were in attendance to celebrate the history of Aveo Edrington Park’s magnificent community centre.

Aveo Edrington Park’s very own resident historian, Bob, hosted the event and took his audience back in time through the story of Samuel P Mackey commissioning the design to the build of the historic building.

Over 110 years old, the magnificent Aveo Edrington Park Mansion has been home to many interesting characters, even serving as the home to Lord and Lady Casey.

All residents and guests were enthralled by Bob’s stories, and amazed at his wealth of knowledge as he took them on a tour around the house and highlighted items of interest. With their newfound respect for the beautiful house and armed with a map and detailed explanation of each room, the residents and guests were encouraged to wander the house and immerse themselves in history.

After the tour, Bob’s audience were treated to an amazing Devonshire tea made by the Aveo Edrington Park Social Committee.

All in attendance felt the event was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, and a very interesting way to learn about a piece of Berwick’s history.
