Beautifying the Bollards at Avalon Beach

Over the years the iconic designs on the bollards at Avalon Beach have been worn away by the elements.

To celebrate the opening of the new Avalon Surf Club building, the community were invited to come along to paint new designs on the bollards. There is a row of 18 bollards beside the club and the community response to the project was overwhelming. Families and individuals took part in painting the bollards and it was a very happy community effort.  Kevin Roberts, a resident of the Pittwater Palms retirement village, took part in the painting. Pittwater Palms has very strong ties to the local Surf Club with a number of the residents being former members. Doug Crane, the late husband of current resident Joan Crane, was a life member and has a memorial swimming event in his honour which is held on the last Sunday before Christmas. The new Surf Club with its restaurant and Café are due to open in April.
