Making the move into retirement living is a natural step for some, but for others it can be a confusing and emotional time as you navigate your way through the many options available to you.

Below are some of the common terms you may hear when researching retirement care and housing options.

Independent Living Centres

Aveo’s independent living options provide the freedom to enjoy retirement the way you want. We offer security and independence within a great village community, and with the general day-to-day maintenance of the village, including gardens, taken care of, you have more time to enjoy what life has to offer. For added peace of mind, we also provide a 24-hour emergency call system and our attentive staff are on hand when the need arises.

Serviced Apartments

Aveo’s Serviced Apartments provide a unique and low-care assisted living option. Residents receive freshly prepared, delicious and nutritious meals, weekly professional cleaning and fresh linen services. Our Serviced Apartments also offer a 24 hour emergency call system, kind and skilled on-site staff, companionship, opportunities to attend regular outings and enjoy visiting entertainment, use of the various amenities within each village and so much more.

Aged Care

Aveo Aged Care is also available within this village community. Our fully accredited Aveo Aged Care facility provides comfortable rooms in a friendly, homely environment. Our caring and professional nurses and other highly qualified staff deliver premium support and care services to ensure all our residents are attended to, for the right balance of care, wellbeing and peace of mind.

Respite Care

Short-term respite stays are also available at this village. Through our Respite and Recovery program, meals and cleaning are provided in a comfortable, fully refurbished apartment. Whether you are recovering from a hospital stay or health incident, or your family and care-givers are going away and you need somewhere to stay that provides support and companionship, a short-term respite care stay could be just what you need.

Assisted Living

Assisted Living is a term which is interchangeable with low care and Serviced Apartments and offers a low care environment where people have access to private accommodation and personal care which can include meals, housekeeping, and additional, optional services such as help with dressing, showering and occasional nursing care. Aveo offers low care living in Serviced Apartments at many of our retirement villages around Australia. Serviced Apartments are the perfect choice when a little extra support is needed, without compromising freedom and independence.

As the name suggests, an over 55 community is a purpose built community designed for people over the age of 55 and generally, who have retired. These communities generally offer a range of living and accommodation options, as well as access to lifestyle amenities and facilities, activity groups and health and medical services. Although entry is restricted to those over the age of 65 at many of Aveo’s retirement villages, some of our villages are classified as over 55 communities.

Aveo Group has been developing, operating and managing retirement villages for nearly 25 years and are proud to be Australia’s leading provider of retirement lifestyles. With over 89 senior living communities across Australia, and over 12,000 residents living in our retirement villages and aged care facilities, we are committed to providing older Australians with the accommodation, care and support they require in their retirement.
